A Complete Redesign of Suffolk University’s Sawyer Student Lounge

As the second installation of Urban Ecology classes, “Living Systems” tasked us with proposing a competent design for a new student union for Suffolk University’s Sawyer Building. We were given a short program list, as well as the larger goal to create a space that would double as an emergency weather shelter.

I decided to open up the floor plate and integrate 2 levels of space into a sunken lounge, that would double as shelter area.
